The World Cetacean Alliance welcomes People’s Weather as the official media partner to support the upcoming World Whale Conference in Durban.
In a statement released last week People’s Weather said “We are proud and honoured to be the media partner for the World Whale Conference and Whale Heritage Site Summit 2017, being held in Durban, South Africa. Broadcasting on Africa’s major satellite service – DStv – on channel 180, we are dedicated to planet earth and all of the amazing species which call it home, focusing on weather, climate change, oceans, conservation, the environment and sustainability in all of our programming. We are committed to helping to raise awareness of the plight of cetaceans across the world, both in the wild and in captivity, and dream of a future where no cetacean is either captured or kept captive for human entertainment and greed.”
People’s Weather is Africa’s first and only 24/7 climate, environment and weather channel, on DStv Channel 180. Their mission is to communicate in an entertaining and informative way the weather and effects of the climate and environment on people and the world they live in.
The channel is all about communicating the importance of sustaining nature as well as the culture of the people inhabiting it.
Said Sharyn Taylor, WCA Partner, who initiated the liaison on behalf of the WCA “People’s Weather and the World Cetacean Alliance will work together to promote our World Whale Conference in Durban. Celebrating the environment throughout the month of June, People’s Weather will also share the work of our partners and associates in the lead up to the conference and beyond. Raising much needed awareness and creating interest surrounding the many issues of cetacean protection locally and from around the world. We couldn’t have found a more passionate and fitting media partner than we have in People’s Weather. “
